Questions on Section 1: Dimensions
Q1.1: What are the absolute limits on hull length, including bumper?
A: The rules limit the hull proper to 65 cm plus or minus 5 mm. Added to this is a mandatory bumper of thickness 5mm plus or minus 1 mm. If you add these together the hull with bumper cannot be shorter than 64.9 cm nor longer than 66.1 cm, with between 4mm and 6mm of that length occupied by the front bumper.
Questions on Section 2: Hull
Q3.1: My bumper is 3mm wide at the top, but tapers to a point at the waterline. Is this legal?
A: Yes – the purpose of this rule is to prevent damage in other boats. So we use common sense here.
Q3.2: Can I make my bumper from styrofoam or some other crushable material?
A: No. The bumper must be “elastomeric,” which means it must rebound from being compressed, like rubber.
Q3.3: What is the purpose of rule 3.2?
A: This is a way of defining a “monohull.” The purpose is to forbid so-called “tunnel hulls” which have the general characteristics of a catamaran. Here is a drawing of what it means:

Q3.4: Can I have hollows elsewhere in my hull, like a hollow or “pinched in” waterline at the stem or stern?
A: Yes.
Q3.6: Can I have tumblehome?
A: Yes.
Questions on Section 4: Keel and Rudder
Q4.1: Can I have a tandem keel on the centerline, like the picture below?
A: Yes. And you can can have one separate rudder on the centerline as well.

Q4.2: Can I have two rudders?
A: No.
Q4.3: Can I have a trim tab on the keel, mechanically coupled to the rudder so there are still only two channels of control?
A: No. That counts as two rudders.
Q4.4: Can I have a forward rudder?
A: Yes, if it is the only rudder on the boat, and is on the centerline
Q4.5: Can I make my keel box longer than the keel is wide, so that I can choose
different fore and aft locations when putting the keel into the box, as in the picture below?
A: Yes, provided you do not change the setting during a day’s racing.

Questions on Section 5: Rig
Q5.1: Can I use a rigid wing sail?
A: Any form of sail that fits the area and rig height limits is permitted.
Q5.2: What does “All the spars must have a section smaller than a circle 1.2 cm in diameter” mean?
A: It means that you must be able to slip a ring with an interior diameter of 1.2 cm over the spar as shown below.
